2008 Mixtape

I've made a mix every December for the last six years running. My goal has been to preserve my soundtrack for the past year. A song only makes the cut if it defines the music I listened to that year or is really meaningful in some way.

I think of my end-of-year mixes as little time capsules that I can dig up someday, and hopefully trigger all kinds of memories. Honestly, I had a lot of good times this year. I think this is one that I'll go back and listen to a lot when I'm old and gray.

Here's the tracklisting:

01 MGMT :: Kids
02 Foo Fighters :: I'll Stick Around
03 Oh No! Oh My! :: Be A Star
04 Sea Wolf :: You're a Wolf
05 Band of Horses :: The Funeral
06 Woodpiegon :: Now You Like Me How
07 Mates of State :: My Only Offer
08 Sufjan Stevens :: They are Night Zombies!!...etc.
09 Tom Waits :: Lie to Me (Live)
10 Nada Surf :: Do It Again
11 The Anniversary :: Ain't That Bad
12 The Postal Service :: Recycled Air (Live)
13 Port O'Brien :: Fisherman's Son
14 Horse Feathers :: Albina
15 Throw Me The Statue :: This is How We Kiss
16 Mason Proper :: Lock and Key
17 The Decemberists :: Record Year for Rainfall

Fantastic mix! I love the idea that they are time capsules... I listened to my best of 07 the other day and it built the whole year in my head again...
