A little music for you weekend warriors

It's Friday, it's payday (for some) and its absolutey gorgeous out in this fine state of Michigan and I know I've been MIA from here for a few days. If, for some reason, you are stuck in a cubicle like myself then the only thing that can keep this good mood going is a few good records. On with the recs!

Today I'm going all old school/new school on you:

Old School - The Ataris Blue Skies, Broken Hearts...Next 12 Exits

Hands down, one of the best straight up pop-punk records of all time. Listening to this album reminds me of sun soaked summers, skateboarding in the Metro Park, drunken sing-a-longs in the woods (Camp Root Beer for those in the know), and pretty much everything else I loved about my high school life. I've lived and breathed by every word of every song on this record since the day I bought it with my first check from, sigh, McDonald's. No matter how old I get, this will always be one of my all-time favorite albums ever. The lyrics, though juvenile at times, have parts that I will always relate to. I've lost this album 3 times (either to theifs, or scratches) and I will continue to buy it again and again. If you've never listened to it, and I'd be baffled if you haven't, give it a few spins. I'm sure you'll fall in love too.

New School - Meiko's self titled debut album

Unfortunately, I could not find album art for her stuff, but I can provide you with a link to her site where you can listen to the whole album for free. Credit for this gem of a find has to be given to my friend Eryn. She showed me this stuff sometime last week and I've listened to this album at least twice every day since. Think Feist but a little more acoustic. She really has an amazing voice, and you'd be crazy not to check her out. Plus she is cute, and that makes it even better (for me anyways). If you like what you hear, buy her album on iTunes. I'm pretty sure it's cheap.

Listen to the full album here!

That's all I've got for now. Time to get back to my jorb. Hope everyone has a great weekend!
